Knockout at UCL

2318572_w2The draw for the Champions League knockout round took place, last Monday at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Switzerland), and gave us as a result four great match ups having as protagonist some of the strongest teams.

Everything is already defined. After the traditional ceremony of the draw, the knockout match ups emphasized the clash that between Arsenal´s Alexis and Barcelona´s Claudio Bravo. The first leg will be played on 16/17 and 23/24 February 2016 and the second leg on the 8/9 and 15/16 March.

Other attractive games this round will have start on February 16 are the games between the Roma – Real Madrid and Juventus – Bayern Munich in which Arturo Vidal will face his former club.

The schedule would be

Gent vs. Wolfsburg / February 17 and March 8

Roma vs. Real Madrid / February 17 and March 8

PSG vs. Chelsea / February 16 and March 9

Arsenal vs. Barcelona / February 23 and March 16

Juventus vs. Bayern Munich

PSV vs. Atletico Madrid / February 24 and March 15

Benfica vs. Zenit / February 16 and March 9

Dinamo Kiev vs. Manchester City / February 24 and March 15

Barcelona as we said, will face the Arsenal, team that classified at the last game coming from behind against Olympiakos.  Real Madrid will face AS Roma, team that finished in second place precisely in the group of the Catalans and Atletico and has the fortune to play against the PSV one of the weakest opponents.

By the moment, Juventus, the current runner-up of the continental tournament, will challenge the mighty Bayern Munich of Pep Guardiola, who will try to take revenge for the 2013 quarters when the Bavarian squad won both games 2-0.

The draw, conducted by Gianni Infantino, general secretary of UEFA and Javier Zanetti former player of Inter, as final ambassador, returned to match Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea, two inseparable teams in the Champions League.

The final will be played in the Milan San Siro stadium on May 28. The draw for the quarterfinals will be held on March 18 at 12:00 CET and the semifinals will be on 15 April also at 12:00 CET.
